 Ten endangered bird species are known to occur in the Lower Murrumbidgee.
• Australian bustard (Ardeotis australis)
• Australasian bittern (Botaurus poiciloptilus)
• Black-necked stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus)
• Bush stone-curlew (Burhinus grallarius)
• Grey falcon (Falco hypoleucos)
• Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata)
• Painted snipe – Australian subspecies (Rostratula benghalensis australis)
• Plains-wanderer (Pedionomus torquatus)
• Red-lored whistler (Pachycephala rufogularis)
• Regent parrot – eastern subspecies (Polytelis anthopeplus monarchoides)
