Pop on down to the Landcare Shed at the Henty Machinery Field Days to see what Landcare have been up to in the Riverina and Murray areas. We'd love you to get involved, volunteer or visit!

This year in our Landcare shed there is a real focus on Sustainable Agriculture and we also have an exciting addition of a collaborative art work which will be “painted” in the shed during the Field Days. We would love you to pop in and say hello!

Garden working bee - Hillview Park Community Garden

The Hillview Park Community Garden & Landcare Nursery is a free community space for growing veggies, social interaction and learning.
Come along on Sunday 24th September to help get the garden beds filled for spring and even get some plants in the ground! Open to everyone!
We are also seeking general expressions of interest from members of the community who’d like to be involved.

Landcare NSW Muster Preparation

To help with the preparation of the 2017 Muster, Landcarers have the opportunity to provide input on the focus areas for the Muster, starting with those raised at the last Muster, in 2015 (detailed below). Now is your chance to let Landcare NSW know your thoughts on the current relevance of the 2015 topics, and also of any new areas that you would like discussed at the 2017 Muster.

Family night stalk & BBQ - Kyeamba TSR

Do you know what lurks in the trees at night? Bring along the whole family to a fun-filled community night stalk at the Kyeamba TSR to look for possums, owls and locally endangered squirrel gliders.

The evening will begin with a free BBQ, followed by a short presentation from Mason Crane and Clare Crane, Australian National University, about the birds, animals and lizards that live on our farms. After the presentation we will head off into the night in search of creatures of the night!

Landcare NSW is preparing a policy regarding how the NSW Government can continue to support the growth and development of Landcare in NSW. The policy will be presented to the Parliamentary Friends of Landcare, and inform discussions with the NSW Government about the future of the Local Landcare Coordinator Initiative, in partnership with Local Land Services.

The new Lake George core - Sutton Landcare meeting, Sutton

The next Sutton Landcare meeting will be held on Tuesday evening October 10 at Sutton School, commencing at 7.30 pm.

At 8.00pm, our guest speaker, Dr Bradley Opdyke, Senior Lecturer and Research Scientist, ANU Research School of Earth Sciences, will address us on the topic: "The new Lake George core: evidence for changing climate and uplift of the Lake George escarpment over the past 2 million years".

Lutheran Sustainability Festival - Wagga

The ever-popular Lutheran Sustainability Festival is back again this year - There is much to see, do and enjoy, starting with a huge variety green market and school stalls, including recycled treasures, books and clothing, plants and garden ideas, BBQ and drinks, home cooked delights, family activities and more!

Wagga Wagga Urban Landcare will have a stall, with lots of goodies and information to share. So come along and have a chat to your local Landcare group, and enjoy a fun family day at the Festival.

Landcare and Local Land Services Conference - Albury

The 2017 NSW Landcare and Local Land Services Conference will be held from Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th October, in Albury. The Conference is being hosted by Landcare NSW and Murray LLS.

This conference is the premier event to showcase sustainability, Landcare and volunteering across NSW and includes the annual Landcare Muster and the NSW State Landcare Awards. Don’t miss this chance to gather with around 300 people from Landcare and community groups, farmers, Aboriginal groups, industry and government representatives from across NSW and Australia.

The theme for the Conference is ‘Sharing our Stories’. Conference topics will focus on agriculture, biodiversity, water and Aboriginal Landcare.

Paddock Tree project: Landholder expression of interest

About this project

This project aims to secure habitat connectivity through the protection and enhancement of paddock trees in the Kyeamba and Tarcutta Valleys.

We aim to provide support and education to landholders to help identify key sites for paddock tree protection or restoration. We will provide financial assistance to landholders to implement these works, including fencing and planting costs.

Community Landcare Pop-up Grants

MLiThe 2017/18 Community Landcare Pop-up Grants are now open! This program aims to support Landcare and community groups in the Riverina Local Land Services area to promote community-driven natural resource management. 

Preference will be given to projects that:

  • Promote membership and attract volunteers to Landcare/NRM community groups
  • Improve the capacity and skills of members of the Landcare/NRM community to manage the natural environment.
