4.3. Landforms

The Lower Murrumbidgee is principally a riverine floodplain, with the exception of McPherson’s Range and the Narrandera Range. The plain is marked by ancestral and present-day creek and river systems, intermittent and dry lakes, and source-bordering dunes ranging from 3 to 15 metres in height. Minor depressions and lakebeds (many of which hold water during floods or prolonged rains) are common. Windblown lunettes are formed by the seasonal drying of saline lakes.
