Printer-friendly version
Date:
26 May 2011 - 8:00am

The Riverina Highlands Landcare Network is holding its Annual General Meeting in conjunction with a Regenerating Grasslands field day, on the 26th of May.

Guest speaker for the event is Graeme Hand, who has worked as an industrial chemist, international marketer, meat industry consultant as well as farm consultant to many family and corporate farmers.

Graeme has a special interest in working with family farms helping to create profitable, regenerative farm businesses which are enjoyable to work in. Conducting workshops throughout Australia, Graeme advocates regenerating perennial pastures and grasslands using planned grazing management.

Graeme is also president of Stipa (Native Grasses Association), and runs a small beef property in southwest Victoria where he is using high animal impact to improve groundcover whilst reducing soil degradation problems.

The focus of Graeme's talk will be how to use livestock to regenerate perennial pastures and control weeds. This will be followed by a paddock walk where key trigger points will be discussed to help monitor animal performance while improving land/soil health.

The event will begin with a breakfast BBQ and the Riverina Highlands Landcare Network AGM. All Landcare members, landholders and interested persons are encouraged to attend.
