Wattle walk - Young

Enjoy a leisurely nature walk amongst the wattles, yellow box, red gums and wildflowers found at the Box Gum Grassy Woodland site, a Threatened Ecological Community.
 
You will learn about wattles and their unique role in the environment – the valuable production benefits gained by planting wattles for livestock, and their importance for wildlife.
 
  • Hear about the history of gold mining and riots at the site from Kevin and Marilyn Stemm - Young Historical Society members
  • Enjoy the birdlife including honeyeaters, reed warblers and water birds with Young District Landcare’s Birds Working Group
  • Hear about Young District Landcare’s Microbats in the Young District project and view the microbat roosting boxes and revegetation
This event is FREE, and includes morning tea and lunch!
