Why do you want to mess it up and slow it down?
When it comes to managing rivers, creeks and wetlands for wildlife, carbon sequestration, clear water and improved agricultural productivity, why do we want to mess the vegetation up and slow the water down?
The Rivers of Carbon team are hosting a conversation about this topic with local landowners, river management scientists and wildlife experts on the 26th of October at the Goulburn Club in Goulburn NSW.
Joining us will be Professor Ian Rutherfurd, a geomorphologist who will provide insights into how our rivers function and move throughout our landscapes. Matt Herring is also coming along to talk about wildlife management on farm, and why ‘messy’ is better for boosting biodiversity.
Siwan Lovett, Manager of the Rivers of Carbon Program will talk about the work being done along waterways in the district, and current opportunities for locals to get involved. Local landowners will also be there to provide their practical insights into merging productivity and environmental outcomes on-farm.
There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion, as well as tea, coffee and cake on arrival. Refreshments will also be available at the end of the formal speaking sessions.
