Fences make good neighbours, farm fencing workshop - Mulloon

Date:
21 May 2016 - 9:00am

Yes fences do make great neighbours; the sad fact is that fencing is becoming a lost art. Most persons have to hire a professional for jobs that are too small to encourage the professional fencer. They are between a rock and a hard spot.

Permaculture Works and Caroola Farm (Penny Kothe) are offering a great workshop that will teach you how to tackle common fencing issues and the basic principle of fencing. David Spicer from Permaculture Works has many years’ experience. David grew up around fencing. His father was a contract fencer, and one of David’s earliest memories is of running the wires out and digging fence post holes when he was 12 years old. Caroola Farm at Mulloon is a 100 acre property that lies east of the Great Dividing Range between Bungendore and Braidwood, just outside of Canberra. Caroola Farm is a sustainable, permaculture farm where you can buy sustainable and in-season produce locally.  See more at: http://www.permacultureworks.org/fencing/#sthash.X7brTJgG.dpuf

The workshop is mostly hands on with a small amount of theory. Topics such as erecting and standing a modern fence, straining barbed and plain wire and netting fences, installing stays and strainers, repairs to an existing fence, basic electric and electric net fences, and living fences.
