Our annual field day and forum ‘Building Fertile Productive Soils’ is on Saturday 24th October.
The last day for registration for this event is Thursday 22nd.
This year we look at 6 pasture cropping trials,
- #1: grown to the fertiliser recommendations of our main keynote speaker and agronomist Peter Norwood from Gippsland. Peter is an internationally recognised consultant and presenter and specialises in managing soil fertility, plant health & productivity and animal and human health. Peter will be speaking on all of these subjects.
- #2: grown to the fertiliser recommendations of Sherryn Heffernan, agronomist Southern Farm Supplies Bega.
- #3-6:The other 4 trials are my efforts with differing inputs including 1 using only farm made organic fertiliser.
Both agronomists will show their soil test results and describe why they chose the fertilisers they recommended.
These trials will run for the remaining 3 years of our 5 year field day series. I will be having leaf analysis done on the 4 main trial crops to assess feed quality (nutrient density), will be doing a cost benefit analysis, yield comparison and soil analysis to assess the residual affects of each treatment and amendments required for next years continuation of these trials.
This should be an informative day for producers at all levels.
The event is at Candelo town hall and our farm and runs from 9am to 4.45pm
