Date:
31 Oct 2015 - 5:00pm

Riverina LLSLandscape degradation is an ongoing issue on the riverine plain. There are large areas with low existing tree and shrub cover and groundcover is often dominated by exotic annual pasture weed species.

This project aims to help farmers restore the productivity of the land through re-vegetation and sustainable grazing practises. With funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme and Catchment Action NSW, Riverina LLS is offering funding for landholders in the Hay or Carrathool Local GoverNational Landcare Programnment Areas to take positive action to re-vegetate degraded areas in paddocks with indigenous perennial species.

This involves re-vegetating with a broad range of indigenous native trees and shrubs in widely spaced belts across the paddock contours. Livestock must be excluded from the revegetation area for a period of 3 years or until the trees and shrubs are able to withstand limited grazing.

What activities will be supported by this project?

Funding  is available to landholders for re-vegetation works including:

  • Planting indigenous native vegetation
  • Undertaking coordinated rabbit control
  • Satellite photo of property
