Murrumbateman Landcare Group Farm Walk
Primary tabs
Date:
6 Jun 2015 - 2:00pm
In June there will be a farm walk instead of a standard meeting- please note there is no meeting Thursday 4th June. The walk will be at Sue and Bob McColl's farm at 1061 Tallagandra Lane Gundaroo. Please RSVP to sec_mlg@yan.org.au
We will be hearing about seasonal trials and tribulations of a small beef cattle farm that started with a monoculture of large tussock grasses and will discuss the challenges that different seasons bring to running a small commercial herd. Bob and Sue will explain the ways they have provided wildlife with habitat, protection and safe passage through their farm while also lifting productivity through the management of pastures and herd grazing. The day will finish with a coffee in their developing native garden.
How to get there from Murrumbateman -
1 Turn off Barton Hwy onto Murrumbateman Rd and travel 17 kms
2 Pass Tallagandra Hill Winery and turn right onto Tallagandra Lane (dirt road).
3 Travel 1.5 kms and turn right at Bob and Sues's letterbox (1061 on the post) and cross the first cattle grid.
4 Travel 1 km on rough crown road and cross the second cattle grid.
5 Just follow the driveway over the bridge on the creek and across the dam up to the house.
Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there.
