FERAL FOX FIGHTERS - Local Fox Action Groups and Free 10/80 Pindone Training
Primary tabs
Landcare groups across the Yass Valley and Upper Lachlan Catchment have formed Feral Fox Fighters, a community coalition working with local council and South East LLS to remove the feral fox as an environmental threat to our native wildlife and stock.
Whilst we will not be able to make the fox extinct we can prevent it continuing to be such a major environmental and agricultural pest. If you have 10ha or more you can help Landcare achieve this. If you have never thought about controlling foxes before landcare will show you how to do it safely and effectively. And even if you have been battling the fox for years you may be able to improve your results.
You can make a real difference by joining one of the local fox action groups near you and participating in twice yearly baiting programs. Even if you are already baiting before lambing or are shooting foxes please consider joining a local baiting group as well. There is clear evidence to show that if neighbours work together strategically they achieve better and longer lasting results than those who work alone.
FREE TRAINING:
Fox baiting must be done in a way that ensures personal, community and environmental safety. That's why it is mandatory for people to hold an appropriate safety certificate. In February Landcare is offering a number of free short courses so that people can obtain the necessary qualification. This training only takes a few hours and will show you how to control feral pests safely, effectively and ethically.
