Eureka PrizeThe Department of Agriculture Landcare Eureka Prize for Sustainable Agriculture is awarded for excellence in the scientific research, development or innovative application of agricultural practices that have improved, or have the potential to improve, the productivity and sustainable use of our natural resources.

Prize
$10,000

Purpose
Australia’s agricultural land generates a significant proportion of our nation’s wealth and provides the food and fibre that we all rely on. As the global demand for food increases and we face the effects of climate change and environmental degradation, leading research, science and innovation in sustainable agriculture will ensure Australia’s agricultural sector is well-placed to respond to these challenges.

The Department of Agriculture’s Landcare Eureka Prize for Sustainable Agriculture seeks to promote and reward outstanding scientific research, development and innovation that has the potential to significantly increase agricultural productivity while improving the condition of or reducing our impact on our natural resource base and ecosystems.

In 2014 we celebrate both the 25th presentation of the Eureka Prizes and the 25th anniversary of Landcare in Australia. These significant milestones are a testament to the contribution both have made towards agricultural sustainability through innovation and science and the on-ground work of community Landcare groups.

Entries must be submitted online by 7pm AEST Friday 2 May 2014.
