Caring for Our CountryPreviously known as Community Action Grants, the Community Environment Grants of between $5000 and $50,000 are available for community groups to protect or enhance the natural environment.

Community Environment Grants form part of the Sustainable Environment stream of the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country program. Grants of between $5000 and $50 000 (GST exclusive) are available to help community groups and organisations to contribute to the sustainable management of Australia’s environment. Funding is available to established and emerging groups that are successfully delivering projects to protect or enhance the natural environment. Individuals are not eligible to apply for Community Environment Grants.

The Sustainable Environment stream of the Caring for our Country program will prioritise investment under the following three strategic objectives:
  • Maintenance of ecosystem services, including ecological and cultural values, now and into the future
  • Protection of our conservation estate
  • Enhanced capacity of Indigenous communities to conserve and protect natural resources

Funding through the Community Environment Grants will assist community based organisations to contribute to these strategic objectives.

Please note, under the Sustainable Environment stream each community group may only submit one application.
