Australian Soil Information Symposium - Sydney

Printer-friendly version
Date:
16 Apr 2012 - 9:00am

This soil symposium will provide an in-depth opportunity for people who need soil information to find out the latest, and help guide the next steps in building Australia's crucial soil information needs. Participants will be able to explore up-to-date soil information and how it can be used, learn about the opportunities provided by better soil information, assess the gaps in our knowledge, and participate in planning the shape of the national soils information future.

The symposium will include:

  • Interactive case studies that illustrate the many situations where soil information is needed,
  • Information on how the best current data is currently being applied, and
  • Interactive sessions exploring the nature of soil information needed for the future.

The symposium will also show at local, regional, national and global scales where our current stock of information is held and accessed, explore its qualities and limitations, and provide hands-on examples of its use.

The symposium is FREE, but numbers are limited. Register to attend at the symposium website.

The event will be held in Sydney, at the Australian Technology Park, 2 Locomotive Street Eveleigh. It will be held from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Monday 16th - Tuesday 17th April 2012.

The symposium is being put on by the Australian Society of Soil Science, with sponsorship from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and the CSIRO Sustainable Agriculture Flagship.
