National Landcare Programme summary report
A summary report on the outcomes from the National Landcare Programme consultation process is now available
A two-part public consultation on the National Landcare Programme was held in August to mid September 2014. Over 600 people attended community information sessions across Australia, and over 330 online submissions were received in response to an online consultation survey on the regional stream of the Programme. A summary report of the feedback received through the public consultation is now available.
Some of the feedback from the community information sessions includes:
- Acknowledging that most farms are multidisciplinary and there is a need for long term targets and outcomes backed by science.
- Farmers are an important key to achieving sustainable outcomes for agriculture and the environment.
- Regional Landcare Facilitators and Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators are important links in ensuring successful outcomes.
The Australian Government also sought input from the broader natural resource management (NRM) community through an online consultation survey focused on the regional stream of the Programme, particularly regarding the following topics:
- Partnering with the NRM community, including landcare
- Facilitating landcare
- Community engagement in regional NRM planning and project delivery
- Organisational performance expectations
- Simplified administrative processes
- Simplified reporting.
