Henty to Urangeline Green Belt Stage Two
Program name: Bushcare
Project Identifier 20162
Project Description: This project will see further enhancement of a very well planned initiative that has endeavoured to address some of the key issues of loss of remnant vegetation and the declining native habitat that have veen identified in the Catchment Plans currently being undertaken by the Alma Park/Pleasant Hills Landcare Group. This project will involve planting more trees and understorey species along the disused Henty to Rand railway line.
Funding (1999/2000) $6,100

Eastern Riverina Catchments Community Natural Resources Officer
Program name: National Landcare Program
Project Identifier 24411
Description: Landcare has evolved in the 8 Eastern Riverina Catchments (ERC) Landcare Groups. Previous Landcare Co-ordinator support directly contributed to group development, large-scale awareness of landcare ideals and issues and an increase in the uptake of landcare practices within the wider community. The current lack of specialist support places the continued success of community involvement in natural resource management at risk and leaves a gap in the Murrumbidgee and Murray regional landcare networks. The project will employ a Community Natural Resource Officer to support the local community to undertake On-ground Action, provide Group Support, undertake Strategic Planning and Develop Networks, increase Community Education and Awareness and provide Project Management. The overall outcome is a community, including all stakeholders, who is actively involved will all aspects of the management of natural resources. It will create on-ground change in line with Total Catchment Management goals as a result of increased co-ordination of activity.
Funding (2000/2001) $79,800 Funding (2001/2002) $88,890 Total Australian Government Funding $168,690

Alma Park/Pleasant Hills Habitat Protection and Improvement Project
Program name: NRM
Project Identifier 37989
Description: The area is significant habitat for a variety of endangered and threatened species including Brolga Bush-stone Curlew and Grey Crowned Babblers. Land is highly valued for agriculture so any patches of remnant vegetation will be protected and in many cases enhanced to retain the habitat benefits.
Funding (2002/2003) $15,762

Alma Park/Pleasant Hills Waterway Restoration Project
Program name: NRM St
Project Identifier 38018
Description: Clearing of vegetation above and along waterways increased agricultural practices and continual overgrazing has led to serious gully erosion. As a result water quality has declined through the increase of sediment and nutrient being washed into waterways. This project will install permanent fencing and revegetate 25 metre strips each side of the waterways.
Funding (2002/2003) $17,961
