What is the National Landcare Program?

Printer-friendly version

So, what is the National Landcare Program and what does it do? The short answer is that it is not entirely clear.

The Australian Governments NRM website states:

The Australian Government has announced it plans to merge Caring for our Country and Landcare to create a single National Landcare Programme based on three principles: simple, local and long-term.

Further information about the National Landcare Programme will be posted as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can still find information on current and past projects under Caring for our Country and related programmes on this web site.

Australian govt:

» Investment in Landcare

» Caring for our Country Sustainable Agriculture stream

Caring for Our Country funds the Regional Landcare Facilitator initiative which is absolutley vital for continued community support in our region. The Regional Landcare Facilitator,  is the only full-timer employed in the whole of the Murrumbidgee catchment (in NSW - the ACT is an exception) whose job title is includes "Landcare" and whose priority focus is community Landcare and farmer groups.
