7.2.2. Erosion

The various forms of soil erosion are sheet, rill, gully and wind erosion.
Each form results in the loss of valuable land, through the removal of soil, nutrients and organic matter, and can cause sedimentation and turbidity in waterways, declining land productivity and dust storms.
There is evidence that major soil erosion problems occurred in southern NSW during the 1800s as a result of land management practices (particularly the introduction of sheep, cattle, horses and rabbits) and flood events.
