Raymond Borland was a Sydney businessman who became concerned about the extent and severity of landscape degradation which he observed on his travels through country NSW. However he was impressed by the outstanding achievements of local Landcare groups in repairing degraded areas, and resolved to assist future generations to continue this valuable work. His estate provided a bequest to Landcare Australia to be used for rehabilitating degraded natural environments in regional NSW.
