Did you know that Australians directly feed around 75 million people, and with our shared knowledge almost 400 million?
And YOU could be part of this industry that overtook mining as the largest contributor to GDP growth in 2016-17 financial year, no matter what your training.
You could also take home a $500 share of the $3,500 in cash prizes, and connections with leading business and research organisations simply by submitting an essay for the inaugural AgriEducate Essay Competition.
Entry Guidelines
Entry is open to tertiary students completing an undergraduate or post graduate course at an Australian university in the following categories:
- Science (eg agriculture, medicine, life sciences, nutrition)
- Engineering / IT / Maths
- Arts / Social Sciences / Extension
- Law
- Economics / Commerce / Business
**Hint: we’re including every university degree out there.
To enter, simply write 1,000 words on the question below and submit it by email (agrieducate@gmail.com.au) in the relevant category for your degree (contact us if you’re unsure). Please use the supplied Essay Competition Template and make sure you carefully read our competition terms and conditions for more information.
The question:
Discuss the current and future opportunities to apply theories and skills from your academic discipline to the practice of agriculture. How could greater involvement from your chosen academic discipline in agriculture enhance productivity and sustainability within Australian agriculture and help global food security?
Prizes
For each of the five categories there will be first, second and third prize of:
First – $500
Second – $150
Third – $50
Each first prize winner will also have the opportunity to connect with the sponsor organisation judging the essay following the conclusion and awarding of prizes.
Key Dates
Entries close 11:59pm 31st May 2018 (in your local time zone) with the winner announced by the end of June.
