Want to build your skills in managing your farm landscape for productivity, profit and the environment? Looking at developing a whole farm plan or revising your current one? Then this course is for you!
In this innovative and hands-on farm planning and management course you will:
- Learn about your farm landscape; the soils, water, pastures, vegetation and animals; and how it all fits together as a landscape
- Learn how to assess your farms natural resources and landscape
- Identify sustainability issues
- Explore a range of innovative farm planning and management approaches including planned grazing, diversity cropping, self-herding, stress free stockmanship and ecological soil strategies
- Use maps to develop a whole farm plan for your place.
Duration
This is a 4 day course delivered in two 2 day blocks: 1st & 2nd May and 29th & 30th May 2018.
Your trainers
- David Hardwick is an agroecologist with over 20 years extension and agricultural experience. He runs numerous workshops in soils, farming and grazing and land management across Australia
- Bruce Maynard is an innovative farmer from Narromine, NSW. Bruce has been involved in whole farm planning and grazing innovations for more than 20 years. He developed the No Kill Cropping and Stree Free Stockmanship approaches as well as co-developing the Self-herding approach with scientist Dean Revell
- Kristy Youman is a farming system extension specialist who works with soils, grazing and land management. She has worked around Australia in agricultural and extension extension roles.
