Why a Society for Biodiversity Policy?

The world is rapidly losing its biodiversity. And yet, we know that biodiversity is vital for the future health, well-being and economic prosperity of our communities.

The role of the biodiversity policy professional is a difficult one. We must find ways to balance the needs of biodiversity, with the economic and social needs of a growing population. Conflicting priorities among different groups can often lead to polarised positions that can hinder progress.

The Society for Biodiversity Policy provides a platform for policy makers, scientists, policy researchers, policy implementers, and land managers to come together to find, discuss and promote solutions that result in better outcomes for biodiversity. We believe that by facilitating and fostering collaboration, the Society can help to meet its challenges with effective and innovative solutions that can be shared and implemented by the broader biodiversity management community.
