Riverina Highlands AGM & Tarabandra Hills Restoration Project
Primary tabs
For the past 4 years a dedicated group of landholders in the Tarabandra area of South Gundagai have worked together to connect areas of native vegetation across their properties.
When an ecologist visited the Tarabandra area some 5 years ago, he described the area as one of the most degraded Box Gum Woodlands in NSW. Whilst landholders were initially shocked by this comment, it has inspired the group to make a significant difference to their landscape.
Their achievements so far have included:
- 47 ha of native habitat revegetated
- Planting of 21,000 native trees and shrubs to link areas of remnant vegetation
- 18 km of fencing erected to prevent stock access
To learn more about what the project has achieved and how the landholders have worked together, there will be a field day on Thursday 9th May.
The event will be run in conjunction with the Riverina Highlands Landcare Network’s Annual General Meeting. A tour of some of the sites is also available.
Morning tea will be provided.
