Landcare for singles - So do you plant here often?
Primary tabs
Are you single in Canberra looking to meet new people, make new friends or even looking for romance? ACT Landcare, in partnership with Greening Australia and other Landcare organisations, is hosting a speed tree planting event at Williamsdale south of Canberra on Sunday 26 May.
So if you want to get out and try something fun and new which improves the environment, register soon as places will fill quickly. Speed planting teams will be age grouped.
The Allocasuarina trees that will be planted are a major food source for endangered Glossy Black Cockatoos and will form part of a wildlife corridor across the region.
Transport: Drive yourself or book a seat on the coach leaving City West bus terminal at Marcus Clarke St (between University Avenue and Allsop Street) at 8.30am or at the Calwell Club (1 Were St) at 9 am. A friendly guide will be on board to welcome you. The bus will return to Calwell then Civic by 3pm.
Directions: Drive south down Monaro Highway past the closed Williamsdale petrol station for 5 kilometres. The property on the right will have signage at the gate on the highway.
What to bring: Sturdy footwear, sun screen, hat, water, gardening gloves (if you have some), warm clothes and wet weather gear if appropriate. Refreshments, lunch and loos provided.
