Soil biology workshop - Wagga

The NSW Department of Primary Industries together with the Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority are running a one-day workshop on soil biology at Wagga. The workshop is designed to provide participants with an introduction to the contribution of soil organisms to soil health, land management strategies to maintain and increase soil biological health and some methods to monitor changes in the activities of soil organisms.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday 27th June 2012, from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. The workshop will be held in the Conference Room of the Wagga Agricultural Institute, Pine Gully Road Wagga.

The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to understand:
- How soil organisms contribute to soil health and how to measure their activities
- Land management practices that increase soil organic matter/soil organic carbon content which are also described as the underlying processes to maintain and increase soil biological health.
- Practical aspects of monitoring soil organisms focused on farm based measurements
