Riverina Highlands Landcare Network Annual Dinner
The Riverina Highlands Landcare Network is holding it’s Annual Dinner on Tuesday the 2nd December 2008.
Guest speaker for the evening is Sam Bailey—a farmer, pilot, husband and now best selling author, he has achieved all of those from a wheelchair and has an incredible ability to take an audience on the journey of his life.
Sam tells his story in his own down-to-earth laconic style that captures the great Australian spirit of 'having a go' and he's changing the lives of people of all ages, from all walks of life.
Sam's talk chronicles his life, from a childhood growing up wanting to be a farmer just like his dad, through to the day his life changed forever at the fork in a road in the Northern Territory and its aftermath.
But Sam's is not a story of sadness rather of triumph. You can hear how he turned tragedy into hope and how he beat the odds to fulfil his life-long dream of being a farmer.
In 1999 Sam married ABC Radio Rural Reporter, Jenny Black, after proposing to her ‘live’ on ABC Regional Radio. Jenny now helps Sam to run their Croppa Creek farm and together they are about to start writing Sam’s next book.
Sam and Jenny’s story has received widespread coverage including articles in The Womens Weekly, Australian Country Style, New Idea and various other newspapers and magazines. In February 2000 they appeared on the ABC Television’s ‘Australian Story’ and their book ‘Head over Heels’ was published in 2006.
The Annual Dinner will be held at the Anglican Hall starting from 7.00 pm.
Tickets will cost $40.00pp with Landcare subsidising the meal. The ticket includes nibblies, a 2 course meal and some drinks.
