Murrumbidgee Landcare e-news - June 2018
Welcome to the June edition of Murrumbidgee Landcare's e-news!
Winter is now settling in, and we have been lucky to get a little bit of rain although it has been quite patchy across the region. Here’s hoping the rain predicted for this week gives everyone a good soaking!
There are lots of opportunities coming up this month, including some really exciting offerings:
- Young people in the Hay region with an interest in agriculture are encouraged to apply for a position in the Hay Inc Rural Education Program, a fantastic initiative providing the change to get hands-on experience, together with valuable training options;
- For women around Wagga, the popular GROW (Generating Really Outstanding Women) program is kicking off later this month, and is set to offer a fun and useful growing opportunity for enthusiastic local women;
- There are also some excellent competitions for kids in agriculture, including the ALA School Biodiversity Image Competition and the Spirit of Grains Competition for kids; and
- The ever-popular and provocative Charles Massy will be in Humula for a lunchtime talk, based around his recent book, The Call of the Reed Warbler. Come along, and you’ll be sure to leave with a wealth of new ideas and inspiration for your property!
Plus there are loads more events, grants and activities to get involved in. Remember, if you’d like some assistance or advice, you can always contact your Local Landcare Coordinator or the Murrumbidgee Landcare office. We’re here to help all Landcarer’s in our region!
