K2C Partnership - volunteers needed!
Kosziuszko to Coast (K2C) consists of fourteen partners (three government agencies and eleven not-for-profit associations) engaged in natural resource management, working with landowners to deliver environmental services in the K2C region. K2C is a regional partner in the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative.
K2C's key targets are natural temperate grasslands and grassy woodlands, wetlands and valley floor wetlands, forest areas containing rare and threatened vegetation. K2C also targets the conservation of small bush birds and arboreal mammals and their habitat. The target vegetation communities and habitat may be threatened ecological communities and or contain areas of important landscape function. Maintaining or creating linkages between vegetation and habitat patches is an important strategy. K2C is also committed to encouraging land owners and managers to learn about traditional Aboriginal land management practices.
The partners are: ACT Government (Environment and Sustainable Development), Bush Heritage Australia, Canberra Ornithologists Group, Friends of Grasslands, Greening Australia Capital Region, Molongo Catchment Group, National Parks Association of the ACT, National Parks Association of NSW, Nature Conservation Trust of NSW, Office of Environment and Heritage, South East Local Land Services, Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment Network, Upper Murrumbidgee Landcare Committee and Upper Shoalhaven Landcare Council.
Representatives of the partners meet regularly to review the operation of K2C and to seek ways to deliver better services and funding to land owners and managers. K2C organises regular mini forums to hear from experts in their fields and experienced landowners and land managers.
K2C also welcomes Associate Members. These may include staff and volunteers of partners, and other organisations and individuals who share K2C's vision and wish to participate in K2C activities such as forums, and/or promote their activities through K2C. To find out more about associate membership contact Tony: tandgrobinson@bigpond.com.
K2C holds a list of land holders and managers, members of landcare groups and individuals, who have or wish to participate in K2C organisations. These receive this regular update from K2C. If you are not already on our mailing list and wish to be added to it, please contact Geoff: geoffrobertson@iprimus.com.au.
K2C undertakes a number of projects delivered through Lesley and Maya. K2C has established K2C Incorporated to manage its business and financial affairs.
K2C seeks VOLUNTEERS to assist with administration and communications. If you can help, please contact Tony: tandgrobinson@bigpond.com
