13.6.3. Who is responsible?

Any livestock movements organised through a registered stock and station agent (such as being bought or sold through a saleyard) will be automatically transferred on the database by the agent within the required timeframe.
If livestock are moved without the use of an agent, such as to and from privately-organised agistment or sale, the owner or buyer must notify the database. However the vendor, and agent or an authorised third party can do the database transfer on the owner or buyer’s behalf if requested.
To read about the NLIS procedures for moving livestock, or to apply for a PIC, go to the NSW DPI website , the LHPA website or visit your local LHPA office.
