2. Our region
The Murrumbidgee region covers approximately 84,000 square kilometers in southern New South Wales. The region ranges from the high rainfall environments of the Murrumbidgee River's headwaters in the Snowy Mountains to the semi-arid regions in the west where it joins with the Murray River near Balranald. The catchment boundaries are roughly defined by the Local Government Areas it encompasses from Cooma in the east to Baralnald in the west, and from Temora in the north to Henty in the South.
